A letter to Beethoven from Andreas Peer Kähler:

Dear Ludwig van Beethoven,

For a long time I wanted to write you once and tell you how much I like your wonderful music and how deeply it touches me. And yet it has been so long that you lived and thought up all this! Unimaginable, I can’t imagine what the world looked like back then! That people did not travel by cars or by ICE but with horse-drawn carriages – and still wrote real letters instead of sending WhatsApp messages with their cell phones! It is all more astonishing that today – after 200 years – we are still so excited when we hear your music.

Today I write to you because on the 21st of January at 16:30 there will be a family concert at Lobe Block in Berlin in which some very great musicians will play your works and I will be telling about you: why you love marmots so much, why you like to play the piano so much, what is a “God spark” and so on…

I’m sure we’ll all have a lot of fun!

Speaking of “fun”, for us, you are now simply “Ludwig FUN Beethoven”! And should you be watching from the sky on January 21st (I’m sure you got a window seat after your death), you will for sure be happy to see that there are so many people here, who love you and your music so much.

With warm greetings,

Andreas Peer Kahler.
