Architecture - Rough is enough
Think Hanging Gardens of Babylon - Brutalist-style - in the middle of bustling Berlin. Lobe Block (otherwise known as ‘Terrassenhaus Berlin’) is a monumental building in a subzone of Berlin-Mitte called ‘Wedding’.
With an overhanging, fully glazed frontage facing Böttgerstraße, it gives the impression of a structure that is sleek and finished. Its large glass fronts harness the sunlight of the changing seasons. But delve into the well-hidden back of the building and you’ll be surprised: wide, abundant terraces open like a cascade towards the south.
This is no accident: this expanse of openness and green space establishes the terraces as an extended garden for the community to enjoy. And with a 360-degree view of Berlin from the rooftop, we mean real openness.
Unconventional? Yes. This forward-thinking project ties sustainability, interaction, social responsibility, and community together in a meaningful, conscious, and breath-freeing space. Just what we need for a modern work-life balance.
We give architectural tours of the building which last approximately one hour. We take you into three units and walk you through the garden, ground floor and rooftop, while talking to you about the architectural process, the history and financing structure of the building, as well as the private-public nature of the Lobe Block. There will also be time for Q&A at the end.

Tenants, Community & Partners
Without its people, Lobe Block would be nothing.
Our mix of tenants has been thoughtfully curated by project initiator, Olivia Reynolds, balancing creativity and business. Lobe Block’s community of creative minds strives to make a difference today for a better tomorrow:
Lobe Lokal - a vegetarian/ vegan restaurant with a circular food system
Yoga at Lobe Block - a yoga studio with a diverse program and open air classes on the terraces
A special toothbrush making a difference to the environment Biobrush
This diverse community contributes to Lobe Block, the Wedding Kiez and Berlin. Valuing art, open mindedness, courage, and visionary concepts, Lobe Block frequently invites artists and musicians for events - as well as international chefs fighting climate change with a fork…
The future vision for Lobe Block is to become a venue where art, food, and nature can meet & mix.
With a strong focus on sustainability, Lobe Block management - as well as the tenants - are working together on projects such as:
- Urban Gardening
- Garden to table food events
- Climate Change weekends with PlanA+ (NGO)
- Sustainable design
- Circular Waste
- Community evenings
- Refugee integration programs
- Book launches
- Annual sculpture exhibitions with Sculplobe e.V.
For the foreseeable future, all units in the Lobe Block are already rented.
However, we are always interested in creative-sustainable businesses. If you are interested in becoming part of the Lobe Block, please email us at email@example.com to be added to the waiting list.
